Job Title: Construction Estimator – Part Time
Location: Queens, NY / NYC 5 Boroughs

Overview
The estimator evaluates project requirements, develops accurate cost projections, and supports bidding efforts for residential and commercial masonry, concrete, Local Law 11, facade restoration, FISP, and general contracting.
The role requires strong technical judgment, field awareness, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Review construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions to produce detailed quantity takeoffs for masonry scopes.

Prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates according to project requirements.

Coordinate with project managers and clients to clarify design intent and resolve conflicts.

Draft complete bid packages, including scope sheets, clarifications, and supporting documentation.

Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to confirm access, phasing, and logistics that affect cost.

Track estimate assumptions and communicate risks that may affect pricing or schedule.
Qualifications

At least 5 years proven experience estimating masonry AND general construction projects in NYC.

Strong proficiency with takeoff and estimating software tools and resources.

Solid understanding of NYC codes, permitting, and local construction practices.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings with precision.

Strong math skills and attention to detail.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work within strict deadlines.

Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.

Must have a NYS Driver License and own vehicle to travel to and from job sites on occasion.
Working Conditions
This role involves a mix of office estimating work and periodic job site visits throughout the five boroughs.
Compensation
This is an hourly position for a junior or part-time person. Retired or Semi-Retired strongly welcomed. Compensation commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
